The irony of his first day in the military being on 9/11. I'm glad he survived his tours of duty and is now retired. Thanks for sharing. First of all thank you for sharing the 9/1...Susie,

First of all thank you for sharing the 9/11 background that may have lead up to your eventual move to Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦. I had just assumed that since your husband was from there that it was the negative Muslim attitudes in the US that may have prompted the move back to his home country. It’s obviously more complicated than just that.
Let me share with you my 9/11 memory. I have one son Stephen he is the oldest of my three children. He had just graduated from high school in 2000, he had just turned 19 yrs old 9/7/2001. A few days earlier we celebrated his birthday. He had made a decision to join the military like his dad, grandfather, and uncles. The Marines recruit officer picked him up 9/9/ 2001 from our home and he stay in a hotel over night in the are. The next day was a travel day to his destination of Paris Island boot camp in S Carolina. He arrived in the very early dawn hours of 9/11. I had just started a new job as a hospital communications operator in in a two day orientation before starting my new job.
We got the news about was going with the Twin Towers and turned into the local new station. It was absolutely surreal, like something out of some Hollywood movie! I could barely focus any longer because of the panic I felt about this being my son’s first day in the military and we have something like this happening!

He recently turned 39 yrs and left the military last year. He survived two tours of duty one in 2003 in Iraq and the last was in Afghanistan. The last one voluntary, he was told it would be dangerous, but did it anyways. I am so grateful he survived all of this!
Laura Gormanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05209466956828888221noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3569425364802315563.post-20777525107771762802012-06-30T15:13:14.229+03:002012-06-30T15:13:14.229+03:00Lorena - It was by Der Spiegel. I'm not sure what the film documentary was called, but the book they published was called "Inside 9/11: What Really Happened," and I am in that as well.Susie of Arabiahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13315336613944665651noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3569425364802315563.post-78197315931452989532012-06-30T06:42:08.981+03:002012-06-30T06:42:08.981+03:00I have seen a few documentaries based on 9/11, fro...I have seen a few documentaries based on 9/11, from different perspectives and some are quite artistic. My brother in law is having one built now though. No built in storage in the bathrooms really makes it difficult too! There are so many little necessities that need to be put somewhere!
Please feel free to look at the other albums also.
