  12. Directly from Italy, and from Turin, first capital of Italy in 1861, my favourite italian food is certainly "agnolotti (ravioli, filled pasta) burro e salvia (butter and sage)". Simple but delicious!
Remember: the best italian food is the simplest.

  19. Susie,

I've got Italian restaurants coming out of my ears here in one of the biggest "Italian" cities outside of Italy, but I'm curious:

How do families--presumably composed of both men and women--eat out in restaurants in Saudi Arabia? Are the men and women segregated? Does each family have its own room so men won't be able to see women they're not related to lifting their veil to eat?

    I'm really curious.

  20. Hi Canadian Reader - Most restaurants in Saudi Arabia have separate entrances and dining sections for families, while men who are dining without female family members are accommodated in a section just for men only. Many family sections have screens or dividers or individual dining rooms for each family so women are not seen by other diners.

  21. I hate to be churlish, but how can you have a real Italian restaurant without wine?

  22. I'm an italian and i simply love risotto and I'm wondering how you will prepare in saudi since at the beginning you put a glass of wine in the potwith the rice?

Lasagne alla bolognose are made with ragu and the ragù i usally made with some pork meat (sausages)

  26. Been there a few times when George was the manager...great food and experience. Took my wife there last night for our 36th wedding anniversary...big disappointment. The restaurant is in decline. When you start off dinner, in an Italian restaurant, with the poor quality bread they dared put on the table, you know it will only get worse...and it did!
