Ramadan Mubarak

RAMADAN MUBARAK to all my Muslim friends around the world! I wish you peace and happiness.

For those of you who are not Muslim, Ramadan is the holy month when Muslims fast from sun-up until sundown. Fasting includes abstaining from everything, such as food, drink, no sex, and no smoking. The purpose of Ramadan is to bring Muslims closer to God and the fasting gives Muslims a greater appreciation for the blessings they have and more empathy for those who are less fortunate.

  4. Happy Ramadan everyjuan!
This is also a season of giving and sharing. For our Muslim bro & sis who weren't able to practice their fast, they are required to give food or something to the less fortunate. Thus every Ramadan, you will see group of people waiting on the sidewalks for cars to stop by and hand them a plastic of goodies. I feel like this is their version of the Christian's Christmas spirit!

  5. "Fasting includes abstaining from everything, such as food, drink, no sex, and no smoking." Abstaining from not having sex and not smoking means you would have sex and smoke when you normally don't which I suspect isn't your intended meaning.

  9. Ramadan Kareem to you too!
Just want to point out that abstinence from drinks and smoking is not something a muslim should be observing particularly in Ramadan, they are strict no-no's otherwise too. :)

  12. Hajj occupies a very important position in the various forms of Islamic worship. The Holy Prophet (sws) once, answering a question placed it among the basics of Islam. He defined Islam in the following words: Islam means that you openly state that there is no god except Allah, and Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah; establish the prayer, pay Zakah; fast during the month of Ramadan and offer the Hajj of the House of Allah if you are able to afford journey to it.Umrah 2013
