Why Can't We All Just Get Along?

What's going on in the Middle East right now with the protests in at least 17 different countries makes me so sad.  I'm with John Lennon...

IMAGINE - by JOHN LENNON

Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today...

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

  1. We are simply not going to get along anytime soon. It must be frightening for you to live in the region and know how easily the people around you can whipped into letal violence against people like you and me.

Whatever justification there for their feeling against Americans and their government they don't seem to have any sense of proportion. How much is the US to blame for whatever ails Sudan or Tunisia, or even Egypt? (The economy of Egypt has been a wreck for generations.) So they attack US owned buildings, burn flags. They got a little lucky when they killed an ambassador. I hope these jerks understand they are killing the tourism industry in Egypt.

Muslims wonder why Americans think so little of them and their religion. They must be blind or stupid.

    1. Hi Jerry - I've always felt very safe in KSA, but when things like this happen, it obviously makes me on edge. Killing innocent people is senseless, damages their agenda, and does not win any sympathy for their cause. Doing it in the name of religion makes it even worse.

    2. Get a grip, Jerry. You're speaking from ignorance. No one is going to be "lethaly violent" towards you in the Middle East because you've got an American passport. Your inner colonialist is showing.

Why nothing violent happens when make fun of or dessecrate Christianity and the others religion (and their symbols) BUT when someone make fun of islam mob of animals stormed on the streets? Where are the so called "moderate" muslims?

  4. @ John

Whilst without a doubt they were wrong about killing, this man was innocent and didnt deserve that.... your last sentence:

Muslims wonder why Americans think so little of them and their religion. They must be blind or stupid

Americans wonder why so many people hate America. Whos the blind stupid ones really? You cant put your hand in a crocodiles mouth and blame the croc if it snaps.

  5. Correct me if I'm wrong, but some misfit with a camcorder uploads to youtube what is more or less a poorly made high school skit, and the islamic "street" erupts worldwide? Including murdering a US ambassador?

That song sure needs singing, and it ain't anglo-saxons who're needing to hear it!

  7. Hi Susie ,
I loved the article, and the poem.
I guess ,sometimes,it is easy to misguide poor poverty stricken people with false religious promises .
The good thing is that, more of us , I think ,are identifying with John Lennon song more than anytime before.
    Good day to you Susie.
