Children's Day Care in Jeddah

Children's day care is not that easy to find here in Saudi Arabia. Many families employ foreign domestic help as maids or nannies, and not that many women work here - so there is not the demand for day care here like there is in the states where both parents often work. There are usually child care facilities available in Western compounds where working expats live or at schools where a large percentage of employed women work.

Mommy Deb's Day Care opened in Jeddah in 2010. It is centrally located in An Nahda District.  The normal daycare hours are from 8 - 5 week days only.  The facility provides care for children of all ages, including infants.

Other services provided are tutoring and English conversation classes for school age kids and adult women with flexible hours daily after school and into the evening. Children can enjoy activities such as reading, painting, singing, dress-up, building blocks, or other imaginitive play.

Mommy Deb has lived in Jeddah on and off for about 40 years. She has raised six children of her own and has babysat since she was a teenager.

Mommy Deb also has lots of teaching experience too, having taught Kindgarten through 12th grades throughout the years. Aside from her natural motherly instincts, she has also taken a training course to become a certified daycare provider in the states.

For rates or more information, please contact Mommy Deb via email at: mommydebsdaycareis@gmail.com

  1. That's great that quality day care is being made available. Does she has a lot of demand?

  2. Hi Angel - The business is pretty new so there are vacancies available. Hopefully more people will learn about it and be able to use this great service. The demand here is definitely nowhere near what it is in the US, but there are some people who can benefit from it.

  3. Your blog is fascinating.

We have often thought of Saudi as a possible future place to work and teach ESL.
I recently heard there were age restrictions for visas though.

I am following you now. We have a child/education related blog which may be interesting for some!

We are originally fromthe UK and have settled in Cairns, Australia.

  4. Hi there,
I should have sent you this letter yesterday, but got too busy. Any way, I've taken my babies to Mommy Deb's place yesterday. All three of us LOVED it. She is one of the kindest people I've ever met. Right a way the babies fell in love with her. They felt at home ( my same rules ). They are learning and developing so much in just two days. I like Sarah too. She's very good with kids.
Well, gotta go now... Thanx once again... Take care, Sarah

  5. hi,
A big thank you for your wonderful blog. i'm new here in Jeddah from the UK. i am finding it very difficult to adjust but am trying to get as much info as possible. i have a son who is 15months.
Do you know if there are any parent toddler groups here in jeddah? if not do you think people will be interested? i'm an experienced early years teacher and thought perhaps women who don't work could go to a playgroup to meet others but also get quality education for their little ones. please let me know what you think? and anyone else reading this post.
    Thanks
    Umm Abdullah

  6. Hi! I'm interesting about Mommy Deb's Day Care because I have a son who will be 2 years old in September. Could anyone please give me some more directions where Mommy Deb's Day Care is? I Know that is close to Madinah Road and near Casablanca hotel. Is it right? Because I came to that place and I didn't find.
    Thanks

  7. I am guessing the rate should be quite high considering that there aren't many child care around? Or does people there fancy more to home school teaching over anything else hence child care is not really on demand?

  23. Hi everyone!

I am from the UK but was raised in Jeddah and class Jeddah as 'home'. I only recently moved back to the UK to complete my degree in Business. I plan to return to Jeddah in the future and open a nursery/childcare facilities. As an assignment for university I have to gather market research on my business idea however the information I gather will be useful in the future if I do decide to go ahead with my plans to return to Jeddah. If you could give me a few minutes of your time to fill out a survey on what would you expect from a nursery in Jeddah, I would be very grateful. My target audience is parents or family members of children under the age of 6 however if you are not a parent/family member of a child under the age of 6 and still want to take part in the survey, please feel free to as any feedback is useful. Thank you for your time!

PS. I hope you don't mind Susie of Arabia!
